HAF-X Clicking

My HAF-X has had an issue with a clicking sound from the top fan, it gets louder when the room is very cold. It is not something touching the fan and it has done this for months, it is not very loud so I have been able to live with it but it's just annoying knowing it's there.

Has anyone had this issue? Should I replace the fan or is there something I can do to it to fix it?

Thanks.

When I first switched on my HAF X the side fan made a funny sorta clicky noise. . . but stopped after about an hour and been fine for nearly 2 months now, but the fact your has been happening for months means yours is not going to sort itself out, I’m sure to replace the fan isn't going to be expensive but as stulid says, out of principal you should contact Coolermaster.

Get in touch with CM. They might not help out in which case you can just replace the fan, but worth a try anyway...

As a side point, I think it's a 200m? Or something like that in the top of the HAF X. Bitfenix spectre is the way forward :p

Mine started to do this and I spent a good day trying to troubleshoot the problem but there was no fouling between the fan and anything inside the case so I assumed that the fan had snuffed it... probably the bearing.

It carried on for about a month so I just unplugged the fan as the internals were running cold anyway.

Let us know how you get on.

Double post but I think its worth it.

I got in contact with Coolermaster the other day out of boredom; my HAF-X has another year and a month warranty on it and after just emailing a screenshot of my order details from the OCUK email they are sending a replacement 200mm fan. When I get it, I'll replace the faulty one in the case and see how the new one fares.

I'll post results.

Triple post for the update bump!

Fan arrived this morning; identical replacement 200mm fan. When I took the old one out, I could spin it up in my fingers and you could hear the reverberation as it span which I think was the cause of the problem. So likely to be a motor or bearing fault.

Anyway, the new one is in and its whisper quiet.

Big thanks to Michiel at Coolermaster for sorting out the replacement quickly!
