they aim for with console games and the like, found this on the new steam when i clicked on BFBC2

"Pretty up your soldier with BFBC2 DLC 4/20/2010,

.....players will be able to dress their soldiers with new outfits and weapons, becasue the most important thing on the battlefeild is making sure you stand out. Available tomorrow....."

Any part of that little exert make you think wtf?

It just means I will go out of my way and make it my priority to kill those who support DLC, similar to the TF2 halos.

Why? DLC is great - keeps games refreshed and adds depth. I'm not sure why you'd have an issue with it unless you were running a pirated or hacked version of the game.

Well personally I am shocked that so many people have got into BF BC2, I bought it the other day & cannot believe how soft it is, I have Never felt more like i was playing on a console in my life & I was on my PC. :(
Cartoon style gameplay with absolutely No hit impact at all. :(
Gutted.

I went back to BF2 & was Immedietly satisfied.
If BF BC2 is a sign of how things are going to satisfy the masses then i can't see myself playing PC games for much longer. I'll have a blast Arcade style on my 360 but that is taken as Casual gaming.
I want a Lot more depth if I game on my PC & modern games just don't offer that any more. :(

Long Live BF2.

DLC is great as long as it isn't essential to have it really :)

doesn't mean im gonna buy this particular content tho, why would i wanna dress up my soldier :o

It's simple. Look a few years back and there was no such thing as DLC for PC games, do you know why? Because it was the PC community that created extra content such as maps, weapons, game types the lot. Now look at Infinity ward. Why do you think they introduced their matchmaking system rather than implementing dedicated servers? So they could have complete control over content meaning the community would have to put up with it which is why I don't support those kind of developers.

The kind of DLC that BC is introducing is minimal, as long as the new weapons are not OP then really there isn’t a problem, but I will still target those who support such a system. Keep DLC on the consoles where it belongs and let PC gamers create our own content the way we want it.

I agree to a certain extent - hopefully the next version of Battlefield proper will be close to what BF2 was/is. It's definitely my fav in the series followed by 2142. The helis in BC2 feel a bit rubbish - having said that, it's nice to not get constantly owned by people spamming vehicles.

Eh - I look at it from the perspective that they are making an effort to create content - I'm not going to begrudge that. I've rarely come across a properly decent user created map anyway - the COD ones were pants. Some of the Crysis ones were kinda cool but even those were limited. Anyway I don't have an issue with it - so what if the developers don't want gamers creating content - it's on them if it doesn't sell units. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

The reason DLC wasn't as prevalent in the past was because internet speeds couldn't really support it but I certainly remember buying extra content disks for quite a few games.

This is rather daft though and I think people would be foolish to part with money for what are essentially new skins which they won't even be able to see.

Making an effort to create content? More like milking the daft consumers who are willing to buy into it. Look at Valve with TF2. They keep updating the game with new content all the time for nothing, they don't have to but they do. They encourage the community to create content for the game and some of which makes it into official releases/patches, that’s the way it should be. That's a developer that cares about its customers/community. I don't have a problem with DLC as long as it has the content to support it, like some of the dragon age DLC as some of that is more like an expansion pack.

are they charging for the pc dlc?

That's what I was wondering, but my guess is yes.

As far as I'm concerned, standing out is the last thing I want my soldier to do. Next up: tie-dye recon suits and diamond studded M60s? :p

I'll pass, i'm not paying for a few skins which i could get for free on other games.

Edit: It's as if DICE are joining IW/Activision with buying a few maps for MW2, kinda makes me wonder whether Battlefield is going more towards the Modern Warfare fail route than to the successful Battlefield franchise such as BF2. Bad Company 2 is practically turning out to be Modern Warfare 2 online in some cases.

No offence, but of course gamers are going to like it that way because it means you get free stuff. That doesn't always mean it makes the developer more money, which is what they're in the business for after all.

That's the thing about today’s games. The gaming industry has become massive over the years so they get away with this kind of stuff. I won't be surprised if the average PC game eventually becomes the same price as console games.

I'm not just talking about gamers preferring free DLC, but more to the point it seems like you are paying more for less for today’s games. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I feel about it.
