Anyone recommend some hair clippers for me. Any that are good for cutting grade 3's.

Also how hard is it shave to a grade 3. Is it just a case of setting the grade and blade guard and then just clipping away

anyone help suggestions would be great

thanks in advance

Yep!

That goes for all grades if you've got the bottle! ;)

I would keep the blades always free of hair regularly, make sure the frequency adjust is correct (if you have one - it to sync with the mains I think) and put some oil (even cooking oil would do) on them before and during shearing if necessary.

Get some ceramic clippers, no need for oiling then, so easier to care for (ie. brush the excess off & put in box when finished...).

I've been using a cordless set of Remington Ceramic clippers that were about £30-40ish, and have lasted me about 2 years so far. I cut my own on number 2, it's dead easy, just go over the back a few times to make sure you dont miss anything.

Cordless or corded does it make a difference ???

Yep its hard to get an even grade 3 all over???

The shorter you go the easier it is, grade 3 should be fine. Grade 1 however is super easy.
I would reccomend some philips rechargeable clippers, I have used Remmington before but they always seemed to chew the hair rather than cut it. The Philips however have lasted years and still work like new.

Well, it's dead easy to cut your own with cordless. Corded I imagine would be a bit more finiky, I'd probably strangle myself tbh, so I'll stick with cordless ;)

I've got some Babyliss ones that I've had for about 4 years now and they still work like new although the battery is a bit dodgy on occasions so plugging the cable in all the time is better. :)

As Redman said, make sure you go over the back a few times, it is very easy to leave yourself a mini ponytail and not notice it. Oh that was embarassing :D Check with an extra mirror like they would show you in the barbers.

Yeah, get some of these. Mine lasted nearly 4 years and were far better than the cheap ones I got to replace them.

mine are wahl ones i think.. i know the hairdressers are the same make and around £15-£20 they seem god value 3 years old and still going strong

pft be a man and dont use the clipon guards. I use Babylis clippers pretty good. And the advantage of doing it yourself is you dont pay someone to do it every month and you can have a haircut anytime and as often as you want for free (pretty much).

Don't buy the cheapest, and don't buy cordless.

I reccomend some decent Wahl ones, spend about £40 on them, and they will last forever. The cheap ones won't have enough power to cut easially (especially if you have thick hair) and will chew and rip instead.

Once you start cutting your own hair you will cut it regularly, and you will most likely get progressively shorter until you don't bother with the guards!

Got my corded clippers free with a philips shaver about 6 years ago and do me fine, I just stand in the bath naked and buzz away. I always go for number 3.
But every now and then I get someone just to square my neck of and around the ears as that is not easy to do for me.

Easy, simple. free and you can do it any time. I do it in the bath like I said, then have a shower to get rid of all the hair.

I have the Philips QC5070, and TBH I am far from impressed with the hair length setting part.

Twist the grip to say a number 3 or 4, start cutting - press too hard when cutting, and the blade jumps down to as far as the lowest setting!

Maybe my trimmers are just faulty, but other than the above glitch/fault, I do like them.
