Just bought the orange box and finally have had the opportunity to play this great game after 3 years!
I think this is probably the best FPS i have ever played, the graphics are so good considering it was made in 2004, looks as good as some of todays titles.
Love the physics, the mavity gun is so much fun to use, the environments are awesome and the canal/airboat level is brilliant!
Absolute classic!

yup it was amazing i've played it through so many times, pity the episodes are so short :(

this game got me properly into pc gaming...used to be a console person :o

Good game, although it was only my third favourite FPS of 2004.
Wouldn't mind playing it through again using that Cinematic mod, but I don't get enough time to play new games as it is, never mind replaying ones I've already completed!

Note to self: It might help if I didn't waste so much time on the forums

Love the HL2 Engine.

Still looks great today and such a scalable engine, allowing almost any graphics card to play it.

Although I never got into HL2. I loved the original when it first came out, still one of my fave games but just could never could get into HL2. :(

TF2 on the other hand is such a laugh, looking forward to the maps and achievements which they are adding to it in future updates very soon :)

Yup, for me it's the ultimate physicists game. You don't need to be an elite soldier etc, etc... Just a phd and a crowbar.
Gordon Freeman rocks!
:D

Found the story superb and gameplay quite enjoyable but the AI was pathetic. There were far too many scripted bits, which led to a lot of buggy trigger points.

I always thought it was over-rated and felt it under-delivered upon release.
However after buying The Orange Box and playing it over again... I feel exactly the same. Seriously.

I'm so bloody bored of using the mavity Gun over and over and over and over again. Clear some cars out the way. Move object. It's quite repetative to say the least, even more disappointing as Half-Life is the I-Ching of video gaming.

I just don't understand all the hype about it. It's a decent engine (or was), and the game was nicely directed, but the story was boring and the gameplay dull and repetative.

love the games but i think its time the mavity gun was retired.

currently playing the Follow Freeman co-op mod. It has pretty much all the top rated singleplayer mods converted to co-op play. It's really good!

HL2 can't / shouldn't be rated as a great when it was just too short. I didn't find it repetitive though - it's far more diverse than many FPSs out around that time.

Its awful, with dull unimaginative weapons, thick as pig **** AI, and a tedious "no" story line.
I spent the whole game wondering when the good bits would come.
And they never did.

It's good but it could be longer and the ending was dissapointing for me. I wanted a huge 'baddie' to kill. Still great though.

The first time I played ravenholm I thought it was fantastic.

Thank god, i was beginning to think i was the only one who thought this way.

Lol, me too. But it seems the majority of people thought it was overrated, so the question is...who actually rated it that highly in the first place?

Dodgy journalists? ;)

One of the best FPS's I've played (HL2+Ep1+Ep2).

Very slightly repetitive I found in Ep1, but Ep2 was great. Great storyline, good graphics even today, excellent sound and generally pretty fun to play.

Far better than Farcry in my opinion, which I never finished because I got so bored of.
