Half Life 2 display problem :S?

Ok so.. some things in the game look like this with the purple bits, anyone know why?

Just bought it on steam..

Using a
HD4850 1024mb..

I guess it's a missing texture of some sort of metal?

LoL, that is a strange glitch!

I would guess it's a driver issue. Try uninstalling, use driver sweeper if you have it (if you don't, I think it's well worth $10!), and then reinstall with the latest ones.

Try verifying the game cache thing and if not a reinstall might help.

hmm.
What does that mean.. verifying the game cache.

and im using the latest drivers of Catalyst

Right click the game in Steam, go to Properties and then Local Files.

Select "Verify integrity of game cache" and retry.

Open the console and see which texture it's complaining about. Then go and see if it's there.

Might need to delete local content and re-download. It's just missing the one or two textures, Not a driver issue.

Out of interest do you have any other valve games? (not L4d) as they will prob use the hl2.exe. Might be worth checking if they are affected as well

all the HL stuff.. episode 1,2 and lost island.. TF2 if that's valve

I finished downloading the other HL episodes and it seems to have fixed itself
