Half Life 3?

*sighs* I hope it is but there is no chance by 3.5 year old PC (3080) will cut it. I rarely use my MQ3, so would be a costly endeavour for a single game.

We still praying for this? I can't see it happening at this point.
or HL3 with launch of steam machine?

Would be a lucky decision if it ended up being something that they planned ahead to do because with the price jumps for components, pushing up the steam machine price, it may end up being that the machine doesn't sell too well and hl3 could help sell it, though of course hl3 would be available on any pc

You don't just drop a game in the series out of no where decades later (HL Alyx), and have it literally follow off from where episode 2 ends without an intention to continue the story. That would just be the biggest slap in the face to the fans imaginable.

Plus say what you want about copium and conspiracy theories, but there has been lots of references to "hlx" in the game files of other active Valve game updates (CS2/Deadlock/etc.) in recent months.

I'm of the mind that if it happens, it happens. Valve have shown themselves to be very intentional in their game development, as opposed to say the Call of Duty annual release cadences, so if they haven't released it yet, it's because they're waiting for the right technological advancement, but Alyx just shows they haven't abandoned the series.

Definitely. It's well overdue a sequel, and could be a good launch game for the Steam Machine. But I'd worry that they might focus a bit too much on the controller gamers if that happened, and we all know HL is a PC game which should be a PC game first and foremost. Mind you, what is a PC these days? The two main consoles are 'technically' PCs I suppose...
