Hi guys

The battery in my 206 recently died. It was one I bought 2 years ago from Halfords. Now, from what I remember they all have a 3 year guarantee on them.

I have found my original receipt ( wow - my filing system actually worked for once ) . Does anyone have any experience about how Halfords go about the guarantee ? Do they check the battery ? Do they give you a lot of hassle ? Do they try to replace the battery or will they give you cash back/vouchers ?

Anyone with any experience . . . .

Only problem is, I have already had the battery replaced, because I couldnt find a halfords close enough to where the AA man would go to.

Do you think they will give me vouchers ?

I assume the AA man didn't take the old one away , if he did I would imagine you would be on tricky ground :p

Should be fine unless the worker you get is an inbread nazzi halfords worker, and they are rare. "we" usually take the customers word for it and they have a multimeter or whatever to whack on it and see.

They shouldnt be gay about it as they wont loss money on it,they either send it back to head office and get money back from the supplier....or biin it i guess.

took mine back after 2 years and they just checked the number on the battery(they know how old the battery is from that number), didn't even look at the receipt.
its battery for battery so i don't think they will give you cash back/vouchers etc

Are my eyes decieving me or has there been a whole thread revolving around Halfords and no ones used the term Halfrauds yet    ;)

Yep, they should swap it without any hassle.

how do you know it's not been said in the whole thread if you haven't read the whole thread? - e.g. where the op says he alreadys has a battery and doesn't need a replacement :p :D

Halfords are pretty good when it comes to returns.

Me and a friend returned some drill bits to Halfords when they became chewed up and useless after a short time of drilling 3mm* steel.

After a few funny looks, we got them replaced with no questions.

* Ok, maybe that's a slight lie... unless Rover used 3mm thick bolts to hold suspension parts together :D

Sorry to hijack the thread, but it's a halfords related query:

I went into halfords today to get some spark plugs and HT leads....plugs fine, but they couldnt figure out what leads i needed :| Same happened when i asked my dad to go in a few days ago for me. It's not exactly a rare or complicated car, it's a bloody 2L mk2 mondeo, one of the most common cars on the road until a few years ago and even still quite common. Why was it so difficult? I'm gonna have to go to ford to get them now i think :/

Tom.

When I had my R5 turbo I bought a Hellfrauds battery for it. Over the period of the warranty I think I had it replaced 4 or 5 times without question. They just took the battery, checked the receipt and swapped em over.

Hiya

Just an update. I phoned the UK customer services and told them the story. They told me to take the battery and the receipt for the new battery that I bought from the other store, to my local halfords.

They phoned that store, and the manager was more than happy to take the old battery away, and gave me vouchers to the cost of the old battery !

The old battery was £56, the new one was £49 from my local shop. So I had 2yrs out of the old battery, got a brand new one from Bosch for £49, and made 7 quid profit .

Not bad . . . . . .
