So I just had a call from my dad saying there are massive queues outside halifax as apparently they are being bought out. I cannot find anything about this online.

Google Lloyds TSB merges with/buys out HBOS.

I wouldn't worry about taking your money out though. They're not going anywhere.

I think my dad got worried about the whole if you've got more than £35K, you'll lose it.

Anyone else noticed that the only people who seem worried about this and seem intent on causing a bank run are old people. When Northern Rock were having trouble earlier in the year they interviewed some of the people trying to withdraw their money and the vast majority of them must have been over 60 and most of them probably had a lot less than 35k! Silly old people.

Especially when withdrawing your money is the worst possible thing to do to a bank in that situation

You should:
1). Pay it all back now
2). Phone up the BBC News desk and explain and ask if you can apologize on air.
