Halloumi Cheese + watermelon = Win

I bought some to BBQ today. Skewered with cherry tomatoes and courgette. Supposed to have a lemon drizzle too. Sounds nice.

Am I the only one that doesn't get halloumi? I love cheese, I love grilled/melted cheese. I just don't understand the fascination with something that has the texture of tofu and the taste of.. well.. whatever you put with it? Not to mention it squeeks when you eat it, which is just weird. It all seems rather pointless to me.

I love Halloumi! :D Especially grilled.

Well you don't eat it raw :D

Wierdo. Halloumi is lush. Especially the Squeak.

If you ask me halloumi has a flovour of its own. It is quite salty, but I like salty flavours. People I know who don't like it say they find it too salty.

Halloumi is gorgeous.

I love it BBQ'ed, but I also like it poached, then on a piece of toast with honey. That's often what I have for brekkie win Cyprus

I'll be eating lots of this when I fly out next Saturday :) Sometimes it's so salty that I wash it under the tap before grilling. I like it home grown tomatoes and proper Greek bread. Along with some lounza :)

This is all making me want to go back to Cyprus, had a cracking holiday there last summer with much halloumi washed down with Keo. *wistful look*

Filemou - stop! I still have 39 days to go! :D

Lounza, hiromery, kafelotiri mmmmm. But you know the best thing for breakfast, is a bougatza!!!

Can't wait to go back home for a few weeks! \o/

Feta-ish in flavour (though I prefer halloumi, it's slightly more salty I think yet less harsh than feta in a way) and mozzarella in consistency.

Halloumi has levels of maturity too, if you go for the old stuff then it's almost rock hard and has a really intense taste :) The rock hard stuff is PERFECT when grated and served with pasta :)
