Halo 2 on 360.

Just bought a 360 to play with on my 37" HDTV :D. Now I've never had an Xbox before nor have I played Halo 2, but it does appear to be my sort of game.
Are there any issues with playing it on the 360? :)
Play Halo first, even if you've played it on PC. It's SO much better on Xbox than PC (I bought both). It's also amazing in multiplayer co-operative (more so than Halo 2).

Both work fine.

I prefer component because it isn't as sharp as VGA - it has a small AA effect that smooths rough edges out.

I notice a more AA effect from VGA... I do however prefer Component as the colours are stunning.

Just played H2 on the 360 for the first time. Works pretty smoothly, but I was expecting the graphics to be crisper than they are. The higher resolution also makes the lower-res Xbox 1 textures look a bit poor too.

Still, should be fun to play through :)

Yeah, at the start of the game (in the hanger) they are woeful. I can't believe it ever looked that bad!

Sorry guys, thick **** alert...
How do I change to Pal 60 in Halo?

I have now plugged the 360 into the TV, changed the setting to PAL-60 in the dashboard. Started Halo and saved game.
Didn't see anywhere in Halo to set to PAL-60 (seemed to remember it was in the console settings in the old XBOX anyway).

Swapped cables back to VGA and I'm still getting the 'won't run in PAL-50' error.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

Change it to PAL-50, then switch back to the VGA cable :p

PAL-50???

Tried all combinations now PAL-50/60 switching back to VGA without switching console off etc. and nothing works with HALO.

Does anyone on here definitely have HALO (not HALO 2) working via VGA?

Did a bit more digging on some other forums and the consensus seemed to be that HALO doesn't work via VGA but Halo 2 does (does H2 maybe have an in game PAL-60 setting).

Obviosuly if someone on here has it working then there must be something I'm doing wrong.

I'm being an arse here I think. Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'ma bit of an X Box newb.

Halo 2 is not a HD game, so unless I'm playiing HD games (through a HD ready LCD) I should be using component in? Or can you feed a HD signal through VGA, or is that what DVI is for?

Cheers! :)

HD does go via VGA too, at higher resolutions.

Halo doesn't work with the VGA cable. This thread's about Halo 2, so you can excuse the confusion :p

Yeah no VGA for Halo. And you can't play the game in HD through component without getting that dreaded stutter you used to get with 60hz mode.

It was smooth as silk on xbox1 at 50hz.

When I played it last night (720p, component) it seemed to automatically set itself to 50Hz anyway. I checked this via the TV's info menu, and it changed back to 60Hz once I was back in the 360 dash.

I have tried all settings and the only one that ran smooth was when i switched to SD.That was using component.
