Hamilton charged over Australian car stunt

He won't turn up when he has a race a few days later, Aussie's are having a laugh and probably arranged that date knowing forwell that he won't turn up so they fine him even more money.

sounds like a waste of police time assuming

1) no one was hurt
2) nothing was dammaged
3) it was his car not a stolen one
4) there was not 'major' incident (ie he span out of control down the motorway)
5) there was no incident as a result of his actions..

You would have thought a simple on the spot fine for drivinging like a ****, and maybe a point or 3 on the licence.....

Going by those guidelines, I would never have had to go to court for my offence which got me 6 points, and fine.

Oh, and how they will all laugh when he gets refused entry to Aus for next season's race... His job means he has to be able to enter and leave countries a lot. He won't want his card blackened with a record for ignoring a summons, not paying fines, and generally ignoring foreign legal systems.

He will take his punishment, the hype will die, and everyone will forget about it. Its not a big deal??!?!

I don't think one race will bother him and i would assume the FIA would have something to bribe them with.

It will not happen, Hamilton will face the music/pay-up/say sorry, and it will be forgotten about.

No one is making a big deal about this, other than the media. Hamilton, I am almost certain will attend if he is required to, or will plead guilty whilst being absent if it is a possibility.

Its a total non-event.

Don't see the big deal.... he will get a small fine. End.

some of the lads at work reckon he will get banned from ever entering the country again if he gets convicted of this.

My argument is that i dont think they'd dare jeopardise the Australian GP over something as small as this.

As somebody has already pointed out on pistoheads though, surely a decent lawyer can get him out of his. How do the coppers know he wasnt in control ?

Just because the wheels are spinning doesn't mean the cars out of control. It has less grip granted, but you can easily control a car that's wheel spinning if your a good drive.

Spin the wheels down here and they will get you for it.
My guess is he was really really lighting the rear wheels up.
It doesnt matter who you are or if its controlled, doing a burn out down here will get you a fine and impounded pretty quick.

Remember unlike the UK Most of our you Drivers drive things like RWD Straight and V Sixs. And if you See a P plate on a Commodore or a Falcon you can expect to see smoke from the rear wheels at any minute.

Edit: If i get rapped $220 for just 10kph over the speed limit then i hope he gets shafted! :p

Bottom line is he broke the law and has to pay up, really that much of a deal

I'm sure you all had a different view about the MP's scamming their expenses?

what's the standard punishment for such an offence?

Love how everyone is saying it's petty. Then complain when foreign drivers don't even have to pay speeding fines in the UK. There would be uproar if a foreigner refused to go to a UK court by you lot.

I think its a booting, and disparaging the boot is a bootable offence, its one of their proudest traditions! So yeah expect some comical tv when hammy goes down under to get kicked with a giant boot....

On the plus if hammy gets into the title race and has to miss one (that webber wins the championship by) we could have the best conspiracy theory for a few years...

Ferrari Internat-wait, no, that can't be it.

:D

I seriously doubt it'll end up in him having to miss the Aussie GP for the rest of his career. He'll just have to pay a big fine, and preach road safety for a bit.
