Hi all,

The lady is after a hand blender for christmas (not sure what for tbh). Thinking of the Kenwood Triblade HB724 Hand Blender which is around £50.

Anyone got a hand blender? How do you find it?

Thanks

We're waiting for one to arrive in the next couple of days (I bloody hope) I think it might even be the kenwood one. Will soon tell you.

I've gone through a few, which have been sack but cheap, and lasted long enough I suppose for the cost. My main annoyance is that the accessories always tend to suck. I want a proper container closed clip on bit, as well as your standad stick, both should be decent.

I looked at the kitchen aid one, but it was 200quid!? Mental for a stick blender.

I use it for most things you'd use a blender for. There is no need for a full belnder/ food processor. I make pastes, grind spices (might have killed my last one), soup blending, sauces etc. you know.

I'll be watching this thread with interest as my experiences with hand blenders is that they all suck. That's mostly due to the cheap versions I've seen in my own place/other people's though.

I'd quite like to get a decent one so I can make good peri peri or massa de pimentão.

I have a ~£5 one from Asda. It's ok for what it is, and I use it for smaller jobs but I tend to use the full-size blender for anything in quantities exceeding ~1 cup.

That Kenwood one looks pretty decent though. I had no idea hand blenders could have so many attachments!

Got beville, fantastic bit of kit, i use the small chopping bowl loads, or used to. The blades gone missing :(. Goiing to have to get a new one or find a replacment blade. They're fantastic.
Use it far more often than my normall food processor.
The whisk attachments are pointless, but blender and food chopping bowl are great.

I'd heartily recommend the Bamix blenders, my parents have had one for donkeys years and I asked for one myself a few years back. They just run and run with very few problems, also there's a large amount of accessories available for it.

I primarily use mine for blitzing home made soups or a bit of high speed whisking but the food processor attachment is great for making marinades, pestos etc.

Will these thing chop onions?

The chopping bowls will, well the blender will as well, but itll blend it rather than chopping it.

Use mine all the time for galic, onion chilli, ginger chopping.

I got the Philips HR1372 a while back and it's the first one I've had that is any good at all - I'm very pleased with it. Cost about £70 iirc and worth every penny. I use the small chopping bowl quite a lot as I live alone and it's an ideal size for making single portions of sauces or rubs or the like. The bigger bowl is good when I'm making bulk stuff. I make a lot of soup and the stick blender is ideal for blending huge pots of soup, it'll do it all in one go instead of having to blend 3 or 4 batches in a blender - a lot easier to clean as well. Mine gets used a lot.

It arrived mere seconds ago. I'm going to stick blend the **** out of everything.

Stick blend IN YOUR FACE!!!!!

I have a triblade with all the attachments, paid about £50 for it, it's the ****, I mean seriously, it makes normal hand blenders looks like trash.

Mine came with a whisk attachment, although I rarely use it, still clinging to the hand whisk, or sometimes stand mixer.

It was this package: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-HB724-Triblade-Hand-Blender/dp/B0041MCCRC

Although I paid the same price at a normal catering store.
