I've noticed recently that you cannot it appears to travel less than 2 miles in Stoke on Trent without coming across a "Hand car wash" operated ,usually, by Kosovans & the like, yet after spending the last week in Taunton ,Somerset, I did'nt find one down there!

Why is this?

Are they a trend thats slowly spreading arund the country and just hav'nt landed in Cider country yet?

Judging by the sheer number around here, I'd say they must pose a good business proposition, so why, I wonder, are they not found in Taunton for example?

Thoughts anybody?

Start a petition, and post it to Blair, I'm sure he can help...

I'd dare not do such a thing, such a trivial matter is the sort of thing he'd (imo) give priority to!

Knowing stoke, i would say you have a higher population of Kosovans etc since they have nothing better to do than steal my tax money they might as well fill in the time by washing some cars tax free.

spot on, however the sheer ammount of people that are too lazy to wash their own car is amazing and such business in booming.

I mean not everyone has to spend hours polishing and waxing like I do (not the corsa, but the bike and nice cars when I dont have an interim runaround)
but it takes like 20 mins to do a half decent bucket sponge and hose off, if that!

I personally kind of enjoy it.

I fall into the lazy category I guess, owning a large black car = nightmare when simply given the sponge & rinse - lots of streaks etc.

Black is a hateful colour to clean properly.

I find spending £4 on a hand car wash & then going home to finish it off (as they always miss something) usually gives far better results than my own efforts, not to mention, every time I hand wash my car, it takes me about 2 hours. I start on the body, then decide to polish it, then decide to do the windows inside & out, then decide to get the vacum out, then, I try to eradicate the streaks.....

Finally, the sodding cat sits on the shiny end result !

Time is money as they say, £4 to save 2 hours of my time is a bargain to me. :)

Theres a group here too, Albanians I think....started off good. Your car would bling and smell nice if you got the inside done, etc and the prices were good. However I wouldn't recommend going unless you keep your eye on them...

A friend took his car in and they left that acid stuff on his wheels too long so they look like they were curbed all over each wheel, you cant exactly tell the manager and expect refunds and disciplinary procedures lol. Instead they gave a mouthful, got one back then the owner just cleaned it up the best he could.

For myself, they often just quickly did it leaving plenty of dirt marks and did stain one of my wheels, it that puts me off, I wouldnt go to one again, Especially if you value your car!

Sunday.....1 hour wash it yourself :p

I hate/cannot wash my car, no matter how hard i try it always looks pants

I love paying some ukranian possee £5 to make my car sparkly, if I'm feeling flush ill get the mobile valet guy to give it the once over for £50

best idea ever, I love car washes like this :)

Another immigrant car wash fan here. There is a gang at my local shopping centre, it's £5 well spent.

I just can't be arsed.

There is a brilliant set up in Leatherhead near the father in laws garage. They charge £12 to wash, dry, vacuum, clean glass, polish dash and treat the external plastics. I take my car up there whenever the inside needs cleaning. Its run by various nationalities and they do an excellent job.

i know of one just down the road from taunton (bridgwater) and bristol's crawling with them, so cider country hasnt escaped :(

See i absolutely hate it, i think i may have washed a car maybe once, but that was enough. I'd much much sooner just lose the £5 and have zero hassle.

Yea I have to pass 4-5 jus tgoing from Hanley through to Newcastle.. thing is most the time they have at least one or two cars in each of them so they must be doing ok. : p

We've got an excellent car hand wash here run by some Polish guys. The job they do is superb, very friendly too. With the hosepipe ban it's ideal, and I'm always happy giving some fellow Polacy more business :)

There are LOADS of them round here and SE London, they make a killing. People are just scared to get their hands wet. Or lazy more like :D
