handheld consoles

I think it will be a while. The DS has a huge userbase and the PSP is still impressive. I don't think the new PSP is worth the money. The best buy at the moment is probably a 2nd hand PSP 2000/3000. Oh there is yet another DS coming out next year. It's just bigger and actually has a bigger screen than the PSP GO. The jap name for it is "DSi LL" if you want a look.

Quite honestly that looks uncomfortable and "power" isn't everything when it comes to a handheld. I'm sure it will do well, but really only a niche product if previous ones are to go by.

That's what I'm wondering as well. Just looks to be another handheld emulation device which in itself is a big indicator of how well this product will do.

I'm guessing we won't see any new handheld consoles from Sony or Nintendo until at least 2012 after the PS4/Wii2 have been released. As long as they are still selling as well as they are, they seem happy to just keep churning out different revisions of essentially the same hardware.

Perhaps if Microsoft entered the handheld market it may give it a quicker boost? Not likely to happen though.

I've got a PSPGo and I have to say they are pointless if you only use them in your house where you're likely to have a console or gaming PC. If you don't have a console then the Go still doesn't make sense unless you travel because you can buy a 360 for almost 100 quid less and get a few games with it too.

Good for travelling as it has a few decent games to entertain you on the train or something, but definitely not a sit at home and play type of thing. Same with the iPod Classic, I wouldn't sit at home and watch a film on it when I've got a TV.
