Hang on Boot

My Windows XP installation hangs on boot after the Windows loading screen and before the Login Screen. I have to hold the power button down to restart the machine maybe 5 or 6 times before it decides to properly boot.

Its happened for a while, and I recently formatted and it still continues... so anyone have any ideas what it could be?

Some piece of hardware taking a long time to initialise. Unplug a few things to test. Try something like Bootvis to analyse the boootup times of your system.

I recently had this and it turned out to only happen when I had my iPod docked in it's station - seems like the iPod was in the boot order as it had disk use enabled. Probably unrelated, but thought I'd let you know just in case.
