Nope. You can look up hacks for individual games on widescreen gaming forum but its a lot of bother. I have asked nvidia about this and with any luck they might enable it on all ws monitors in the next driver update.DBSE_Snake_XE said:After setting up the monitor with a DVI cable about an hour ago and trying out the aspect ratio timing options in the driver, I can confirm this. Bummer. Is there no other way to attain the correct aspect ratios on this monitor?
Correct. No dvi lead. For the price you can't really expect it to come with one.blitz2163 said:I think its been mentioned on here that they dont come with a DVI lead
You would, now that i've just bought two.Gibbo said:Hi there
I've been busy again putting my buying power to use and now you can get the Hanns-G 19" Widescreen from OcUK for £107.95 +VAT !!
Were now able to sell this monitor cheaper than most other Etailors can purchase it for due to our superb purchasing skills.
Why not get 2 of the Hanns g monitors for not much more than the price of a viewsonic? You get a lot more screen area for your money that way, and dual monitors are fantastic.MontyUK said:I have been thinking about one of these or a Viewsonic 2025 at twice the price +.
Is there a lot to be gained from the extra resolution when used for photo editing, Word and internet? I am not interested in gaming at all.
The Hanns one is 1440 x 900 and 19"
Viewsonic is 1680 x 1050 and 20".
Gibbo: how about using your legendary buying power to get the Viewsonic price down?????
Whats the use of a single monitor?gam3r said:I sound stupid saying this but who cares What are the uses of dual monitors? Enlighten me please!
I tried both and couldn't really tell the difference initially, but i did notice some noise at the top and bottom that i think went away with dvi. My advice is to get a dvi cable unless you're really short of money. It just makes more sense rather than converting from digital to analogue and then back to digital.gam3r said:Just a quick question how noticable is the quality between the VGA connection and the DVI connection?
Yep. I have it on both of mine too but not to a great extent, not noticable unless you are viewing a completely black screen i.e looking for backlight bleed.YoungBlood said:hhmm what adsactly is back bleeding? im pretty new to the tft scene so enlighten me......Im guessing the top and bottom is brighter than the center
I think the two are compatable. Iirc dvi-d has the analogue pins so if you wanted to convert it to analogue at the other end of the cable you couldn't with a dvi-i cable. The graphics card only has the digital pins so you can't convert it to analogue at all. But i think both will work in digital.godsense said:with regard to the dvi cable, its DVI-D according to the O/C website, so will that not plug into my sapphire x800 gto2? as that has a DVI-I output
No.plasmahal said:Thanks that's made a massive improvement now. I had to force it in the ati control panel but sorted. next question though..... would i benefit anyway of using the vga lead but with a dvi adaptor at each end and then using the dvi sockets on the monitor and the pc ?
cheers...
I might take some later if i can be bothered.mark1 said:Any more pics of a dual setup with these?
Thanks
That is the one problem it has. I was concerned about this initially but i've found that i can't tell if a game is stretched or not and playing bf2 at 1280x1024 is fine for me. If you're used to having aspect scaling perhaps its a problem but it doesn't bother me at all.BlizzardX said:Only problem I had was the strechting of games to fill the screen. My NEC can adapt the display to only show 800*600 for example with the black borders around the edge and stretch it to fill the screen... so I was playing Dawn of War which doesn't support WS modes and it looked distinctly odd. If only it would do what my NEC 17" does I would buy one tomorrow.
No it does not have either hardware or software 1.1 pixel mapping/aspect scaling, so games without widescreen resolutions need to be either hacked or will be stretched. As i said above, i don't find stretched games a problem at all.pallys said:does this have the 1:1 pixel stretching feature ?
You have to press the menu button, scroll along to the video source menu, press the menu button again to enter it and then select analogue or digital. You then press menu again to exit the source menu and select exit.NeilFawcett said:I was looking at possibly running one of the these through a KVM switch, but given the poor reports of the VGA image quality this worries me.
What would happen if I plugged the digital connector into one machine, and the analog into another? Can you flick between them easily?
Both dvi. Most modern graphics cards capable of powering dual 1440x900 displays should be dual dvi.NeilFawcett said:Question for you dual Hanns users... Do you have one connected to a DVI and one to an analog? If so isn't there a difference in the display quality/nature?
