I recently bought the Hanns.G 28" HZ281 monitor and it is a lovely monitor - huge with pretty good colours (although compared to my old Samsung, the blacks aren't as black).

Having a problem getting the OSD menu to appear though. Pressing the menu button doesn't work and as far as I can tell, only the power switch works. The monitor was properly packaged (i.e. not a refurb) and no obvious damage to to outside.

I've Googled and found some posts talking about OSD locking, but no mention in the manual about this. Is there a way to unlock this or could this just be a freak fault? (in whick case I'll return as defective)

I have one of these and the "buttons" work best if you use them like a lever and push them towards the back of the monitor rather than using them like a button pressing them up towards the frame.

After your great suggestion, I was pressing the menu button repeatedly and I could see the OSD menu briefly appearing & disappearing. Then, as it something became "unstuck", the menu comes up normally when I press the button.

Very strange, but guess I have to count myself lucky I didn't send back a working monitor.
Thanks for you help! :)

Any update on this?

I sent it back and obtained a refund in the end. Sometimes it seemed like it started to work properly, but then the problem will crop up again.

I could've asked for a replacement instead, but the UK support number (Hann.G outsource this to Repairtech in the UK) did not connect when I tried to call on Monday morning. The line seemed to be disconnected.

So lack of support and the fact that the item was clearly broken even with an "inspected" sticker on the box (what did they actually check??), made me lose all confidence in this company & product and I requested a refund.

Time to go shopping for something else then. Look like some deals here:
