HANNSPREE 27.5" WIDESCREEN LCD MONITOR AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER

Is this not game dependent? Like the COD series use 65° FOV (changeable 65~80 before MW2), which I thought was left to right. If you see 32.5° left and right of centre regardless of aspect ratio, then there is a gain above and below with 1920x1200. I'm not sure for jak731's screenies as the aim has moved slightly. Might need to test some out.

Is This the HANNS G or HANNspree. says HANNS G on the screen.

Did they sort out the back light issue on these. the old HANNS had a back light issue, which is what i got.

Great monitor for gaming :)

Stocks slightly late but has docked and should be due to OC Thurs/Fri latest!

These are Hanns G branded. Hannspree is the consumer arm which does their LCD TV.

Im not aware these had any backlight issue, ive read a few people have had issues but there certainly hasnt been any major issues with these.

I'll wait until pay day at the end of April to buy two more of these. I cannot afford to spend an extra £600 right now... given it's half way through the month!

I had a go on one of the previous versions of this screen and iirc the picture was kinda average over VGA ... looked pretty sweet over DVI/HDMI though ... 1920x1200 on that size of panel works well.

Stock lands tomorrow and should be with OCUk Friday at the latest. Supply remains very tight on these but finally, after a 3 and a half month shortage, stock is coming back!

You are correct that 16:9 gives a wider FOV (whether this is better might depend on the game). But a 1920*1200 monitor is still better as you have the option to choose either (on my monitor there are thin black bars at the top and bottom when i use 16:9). Got bored and took a few screenshots, the difference is minimal really:

16:10

16:9

For working and web browsing the extra screen height is definitely worth it imo.

wider? both are 1920 width, your pictures are misleading. and if your talking FOV then having more height to the image has its theres advantages when gaming imo :) it only because movies are in 1080p that this resolution is used more than 1920x1200. surely if we are talking about whats the best resolution to game the 2560x1600 or eyefinity would be the answer :D

anyone gonna post a review of this monitor when they have it? I'm very interested in this but have some concerns such as viewing angles, reliability and back light bleed.

Reliability should not be a concern they are a decent company and have been around years. I have had a unit from them before and still going strong no problems.

Mine arrived today :D

Initial thoughts: it's huuuuuge  Aside from that it's a very nice looking monitor, the 'piano black' suits my case perfectly. I have it connected to my GTX 260 via the supplied dvi-HDMI cable, and initial thoughts are very good, after fiddling with the brightness and contrast it gives a gorgeous image (I'm coming from a fairly old Acer 22"), lovely depth to the colour and great contrast with nice deep blacks. I didn't get the chance to do a 'black screen' backlight bleed test, will do when I get home.

Overall I'm very pleased so far :)

any chance you could upload a picture of it next to your 22" Acer to compare?

1920 x 1080 is trash, its the fallover from televisions. 16:9 is not a good aspect ratio for monitors. Especially if you are using them for eyefinity O_o

1920 X 1200 or 2560 x 1600 is great =D
