Happy Hardcore Revival

There's some classics there! The amen/breakbeat driven tunes of 94/95 were the best years, happy hardcore turned into that bouncy 'four on the floor' type crap found on the Bonkers albums after that.

The early Slammin Vinyl tape packs were my favourites, so here's a Slipmatt mix from Slammin Vinyl - In Full effect 1994

Anyone like the newer sound?

Dougal and Gammer are pushing the limits again and making some really good music.

this is just Gammer but his past few tunes have been amazing.

Klubbed up and Futureworld(Breeze/Styles etc) are doing some really good stuff.

Fracus and Darwin and also releasing tomorrow the only hardcore release this year so far make it to the mainstream shops HMV/itunes etc.

Yes sorry...i ment more in the way of he is back. He went very quiet the past few years but it resurfacing and getting to grips with production again.

Cant knock it at all...sounds as up to date with his flavour of it as anything else, i personally have missed the type of music he makes.

Now powerstomp...not my cup of tea but Joey Riot is moving it along and incorporating it into the UK Hardcore sound and it works!

The real force nowdays is hardcore underground. Gone are the bonkers etc and it did go very stale but HU have been releasing a steady flow of decent music now for the past year and things are picking up..hell im going to my first event in year next month!

Yeah Scott Brown was making that stuff 10 years ago, partly the reason why Happy Hardcore was just a short phase for me.

All sounds really dated these days imo, hasn't really changed at all pretty much sounds the same, though I used to love it 15 years ago. :)

It never died for me.

Hardcore as a genre is something I still regularly listen to, purchase and mix.

Definitely not a fan of the 'bigroom' aspect that is around in the UKH scene right now though.

Yep, hate the bigroom stuff esp the last one released by breeze - brixton or something...its meh and totally away from everything that is UK Hardcore.

Hardcore always has and always will use bits from what is popular at the time but this stuff is gut wrenching...give me a bit of dubcore anyday over that.

I've got some original recordings from Fantazia. :D

I stopped keeping up to date with the newer stuff being released around the same time that I felt too many modern electro influences were keeping into/taking over releases.

What used to be 10+ purchases a month became that every 6, and this is at a time when there were more releases than ever as a plethora of digital only labels sprung up.

Wish I could pay more attention to it as I'm sure there are still some gems being released. Most heartbreaking for me was when Vagabond/Euphoria/Dreadhead completely changed his style for whatever reason, just one of the things that started to make me feel detached from the newer stuff. At least freeform is still going relatively strong.

I still buy/listen and mix the stuff regularly though I did go off it slightly when it became dubstep inspired. Don't think the Forum rules allow soundcloud/hearthis links so here's the last one I put on youtube:
