Happy St George’s Day

Can't beat a bit of unashamed nationalism, but sadly narry a flag to be seen between here and Whitchurch. Not sure if a white tablecloth and some red gaffer tape hanging limp from my aerial mast isn't a bit "desperate".

I always forget St. George's day in the calendar. :(

It’s not about his nationality, he’s celebrated because of his Christian ideals and his protestations against the Roman’s treatment of christians.
Do you believe that?

Maybe I am underestimating the English public, but I bet if you ask 100 people on the street what he did, 95 of them would say "slayed a dragon"

It’s the truth, it’s not my fault if most of the 100 you asked are thick.

St Patrick did more than just drive snakes out of Ireland, but plenty of Irish would give you that answer.

It’s just a day to celebrate your country and its history and have a good time doing it. There’s nothing sinister about it, they’ll be doing exactly the same in Portugal, Bulgaria, Romania, Catalonia, Rio and more

St Patrick was from Britain, are you going to tell the Irish how they should follow British tradition?
'shouldn't you be celebrating with beef stifado' is a question.

So, not telling anyone to eat anything.

Which is odd as he apparently died in 300 something A.D. and the dragon stories are about the middle ages.

But then that's religion for you, there's no actual evidence he ever existed outside of a story.

Edit: But have a good day anyway all :)
