Always weird having the longest day when summer has barely started, or at least feels like it’s barely started.

I think it's something like "seasonal lag", where the longest day is in Jun and the hotter days tend to be in Jul/Aug. Then it's the same in Winter where Dec has the shortest day followed by the coldest snaps in Jan/Feb. It's not like this every year, but the average year follows this pattern.

That's until Greta T decides that it's going to be 39C in the Lake District all year round and the lakes all dry up
