Hard disk not detected?

Ok i have installed windows vista and my hdd is detected inside bios but it says

adapter 1
no hard disk detected.

Its connected via sata and in bios i have ide/sata/another option its currently on IDE

Underneath it says sata and reads the drive correctly, ideas?

is the mobo sata 1 and the hdd sata 2? got ne specs?

thats weird if it was working before cos u installed vista and now it doesnt work? have there been any changes to the system since the problem?

no it works correctly, ie loads into windows i am just getting the error on startup

so you can use you PC but you get like a pop up box after you log in?

sorry i am being brief, in a hurry to get it working and its not helping anyone

When i turn on pc it does a system check to verify everythings ok etc. In this booting up screen it says adapter 1 no hard disk detected. Then it loads into windows and it runs fine. I just want to know why i am getting this error. So to clarify its before i get into windows

i have also updated my bios and still nothing - it works fine but just really want to know why im getting an error because i am going to be adding another 2 harddrives and those both get the same error

well i think i get that too its normal i dnt take much notice cos mine just flashes on the screen then off its just a vista thing do not take much notice tbh could be the mobo looking for a raid seetup init its all good buddy do not worry

ok thanks a lot, i had no problems with xp but after formatting and installing vista im getting it
