Well, I bought a new drive last week, a nice big 750 gig drive, to replace my main drive and let me finally use my external drive exclusively as a backup drive. Unfortunately my external drive broke last night before I could copy it across and started making weird clicking noises. 500gb of data, just gone! Typical!
Anyway, it's still under warranty with Western Digital and I have an RMA request in. I was wondering what happens to the disks when I return them. I know there are files which I had on the drive such as some accounts, passwords and development files. I don't expect any files back from them, but what will WD do with the old disc?
I guess I just want to be reassured that the data IS gone and nobody will be able to try and recover it.
