Hard Disk Seeking

I currently have 5 x 500GB WDAAKS drives in my PC and I have recently noticed that they seem to be doing something when my PC is idle. I formatted last night and the only thing on my system at the moment is drivers - I have just booted up and it has been 10 minutes but the drives are churning away doing something...

Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Antivirus? File Indexing? What OS are you running?

It is Vista and I haven't even put any antivirus software on there yet

The thing is, this problem started happening before I formatted to, but all of a sudden, so I am not sure what could have caused it...
