Hard drive advice

Yeah, sorry - I've written it so many times, I just got lazy.

7200.10 features perpendicular recording - this makes sustained transfers on it superior to all other 7200rpm drives which use the standard longtitudinal recording. It comes with a 5 year warranty and Seagate are renowned for reliability and audibility of drives.

Thank you, the spec in the general forum seems ok, I'll get two drives. One for a backup of all my photo's and data. I may even invest in Ghost.

Thanks again.

Don't use Ghost, use Aconis True Image instead. It's far superior in terms of not failing to actually do the thing it was bought for - sorry, personal experience.

Glad to hear it - another happy experience yesterday with Acronis cloning my Seagate 6.5GB (Server O/S) drive to a Seagate 40GB drive with auto resize of partitions - worked perfectly first time using the Boot CD. Sorry, but it's just so much better than Ghost I've found.

Seconded! Trial version here ;)

& also consider its trusty sidekick, Acronis Disk Director Suite (here).
