Hey guys,
Will have the following setup in my new system Im building, and plan the following configuration:
Disk 1 - OCZ Vertex Series 30GB SSD - Boot disk for Windows 7 OS only
Disk 2 - WD Caviar Black 1TB - in raid 0 with disk 3 - for apps/games install
Disk 3 - WD Caviar Black 1TB - in raid 0 with disk 2 - for apps/gales install
Disk 4 - WD Caviar Black 1TB - for media/work stuff
Disk 5 - WD Caviar Black 1TB - for media/work stuff
Disk 1 for OS for fast bootup/general performance.
Disk 2 and 3 for decent application and games performance, if the array ever fails I dont lose any "data", just apps to reinstall.
Disk 4 and 5 for media and documents precious to me, not in raid so if disk 4 blows it doesnt take out 5.
Plan to do a regular offline backupto external sata drive of disk 4 and 5.
Make sense, or would you do differently? Never configured raid before but sure its straight-forward, on Asus rampage II extreme board.
Thanks in advance!
