does anybody know if a hard drives transfer rate can drastically affect the running of audio software such as cubase 5? i've been using this program and others in conjunction with a focusrite saffire pro 24 dsp firewire soundcard and have been experiencing latency issues that shouldn't be occurring considering the specs of my pc:

win 7 64
2.8g dual core athlon 5400+
3 gig ddr2
primary disk - WDC WD1600JS-00NCB1 (149 GB)
secondary disk - WDC WD1001FALS-00J7B1 (931 GB)
geforce gtx 260 gpu

my display drivers have intermittently failed when using cubase a couple of times which has never happened before too.

all drivers up to date, so am i right in thinking a SSD might solve the problem?

any help greatly appreciated

Faster disks only really help a DAW do things quicker (loading all your samples, buffering before playback) so I doubt your issues are disk related.

I'd suggest changing your drives around though, make the much quicker drive your OS one.
