Hard Drive choice ?

Hi All I,m looking to get a new HDD and want to know which of these 3 drives would be quieter,faster etc ? :confused:

Seagate 7200.10
Western Digital Caviar SE 16
Samsung Spinpoint T

Fastest will be the Seagate.
Quietest will be the Samsung.

And middle road would be the WD

What size are you looking for? Under 500Gb go with the Seagate, anything more and consider the new 500Gb Western Digital that was on special last week. It seems to be turning in benchmark results which are equal to, if not better than the Seagates.

Samsung HD's are awesome. Very quiet and superbly reliable.

I have a WD SE 160GB at the moment, only 3 weeks old and I'm considering selling it to a friend to buy something else its as noisy as anything and isn't very fast at all.

I have heard Samsung are super quiet, I have had Seagates before this WD junk and I'm tempted to either go Samsung or Seagate myself.

I,ve always had Seagate from a 20gig i had years ago ! had Maxtor and that was total **** it was ok until it sounded like a tin can being kicked arounfd ,i,d say go Seagate ..highly reliable too

I have Seagate at the moment a 160gig quiet and very good ..

Consider the Hitachi drives, very good quality.

Mine just sounds so hiddious when it reads, like when I launch a program you can hear it pulsing like you say almost like a dull scratching!
