I am installing a new SSd for my father in law.

The plan is to live clone the HDD to the SSD which is attached in a Caddy.

The current HDD has 3 partitions, one being recovery @ 400 MB / Windows C: @ 232 GB / Data D: @ 232 GB

New SSd is 250 GB but I am only trying to clone the Windows partition to the new SSD. I have formatted the new drive so it does appear in my Computer but when i try to clone the windows partition to the SSD in Ease US Todo the SSD just does not appear.

I have tried other software which also doesn't want to clone no matter what so I'm out of ideas unfortunately

The only thing i can think is that i have missed some setting in windows for the new SSD to make it compatible or it is because im running the OS i want to clone?

Any ideas welcome, thank you

Have you tried Magician reflect?

Macrium.

Do this instead..

Use Macrium to create an image file, for now, store this on the SSD.

Now copy this file to the hard drive.

Install the SSD in the PC in the first slot.

Boot from Macrium boot CD/USB, choose Restore Image, browse to the image file on the hard drive and restore it to the SSD.

Shutdown, remove old HDD.

Boot from SSD.
