hard drive cloning

what program can u guys recommend to create a clone on my current HD? im looking to get a bigger HD and dont want to reinstall every single program

You could also use the trial version of Acronis True Image, or if the new HDD is a Seagate or Maxtor, DiscWizard or MaxBlast, if is a Western Digital HDD, then Acronis True Image WD Edition which are all Acronis True Image...

Acronis, did it last week, completely seamless backup from old hard drive on my laptop to new one connected via a usb caddy. It completed, i swapped them over and it just booted with only a note to tell me that it was successful

I'm about to do the same thing when my second ssd arrives next week. Have been reccomended Norton Ghost. Is that any good? or will i be better off with that acronis program? :confused:

You sure it's not on vista?
Control panel>System and Security>Backup and restore>create system image

As it can copy over to another drive take out your old drive and you can boot from the new drive without any other fiddling?

you could just install the new hdd, copy over C: drive, then remove the old hdd and change the other in its place.

Massive thread revival, but have just used the Win7 backup and restore feature.
I'm about to boot into the restored data, so will report back to see if it's still working!
