ive just recently upgraded my gfix to the 512 7800gt gainward and for reasons i cant be bothered to go into i reinstalled windows to do so.

however the problems arose when i started up windows to find that the 500gb ad 40gb hds that i have connected werent detected so i couldnt access the various installers i needed to begin rebuilding my pc but the 200gb hd i use solely for windows works fine but no other drives appear in the my computer list.

ive been into the device manger and tried to updatw the driver but no luck and tried disconnecting it a bunch of times i even tried reinstalling windows again btu still no joy ive basically treid everything and i cant get the ******* to work and i need them to especially the 500gb cos it has all of my installers for other progs and films and music of which there is a lot

any help at all is very welcome im open to suggestions or if anyiones had the same problem just drop me a line

You're relatively new here - time to read the FAQ

500gb + 200 + 40 hds
gainward 7800gt 512mb

it is the 500 (SATA) and the 40 (IDE) that are not appearing in the my computer window however they do appear in the bios and the device manager!!!!!????

Right click 'My computer' > Manage > Disk Management > Can you see the HDU's listed there? If so > Right click where it says Disk0 or whatever their disk number is and click 'Initialise disk'

That should be the problem fixed.

that wont wipe the disk will it cos thats kinda the whole point i need the stored data. and also there is no option to initialize only properties and stuff and convert to dynamic disk

Could you post me a screenshot of that disk management screen - press Print Screen, open Paint > Edit > Paste Then save it as a jpeg and upload it to imageshack and post the url you are given here (just in case you didn't know :p).

It won't wipe the disk initialising it, converting it would though, or any formatting obviously.

imageshack?? directions?? my bad im pretty new to this as you may have gathered
www.imageshack.us

Then upload the picture there - it's simple, you will see there is only one way to do it ;). Once you have clicked Host It, wait for a while and a new screen will come up with lots of URL's. Copy and paste the 'direct link to image' one and post it here :).
