Hard drive dying?

Hey guys,

*WD 500GB AAKS*
I've been having problems with media player the last couple of days, with it freezing as soon as I tried to watch a video. Also the HDD sometimes starts making a weird noise.

I used data lifeguard diagnostic and it passed the quick test, I havent tried the extended test yet. However if I right click on the drive and click on properties under health it says warning.

Is my WD messed?

Most likely. Start backing up your valuables. Then try and fanny about with it and do extended tests.

it is possible for them to be on their way out and some times ticking / making odd noises but still pass the mfg tests.. I tested maxtor / IBM drives for 5 years when I first got into IT.. we sent loads of faulty drives back to customers before we realsied... probably becasue its an intermitant issue.. If you KNOW the noise is comming from the drive and you KNOW the power to the drive is ok the drive will be failing just a matter of time before it packs up altogether. (I'm assuming the noise is a clanking or clunking and not possibly anything like it jsut seeking a lot)
