Hard Drive Dying?

My hard drive is making a hell of a strange noise which occurs mostly when turning on and waking up from sleep.

I've only had my computer since just before Christmas so don't see why it should be dying on me.

Do overclockers cover things like this?

Thanks

Unfortunately, hard drive failure is not as uncommon as we would like, and it does seem that age doesn't play much of a factor.

Overclockers should have no problems taking care of that for you since strange noises usually indicate a failing drive.

One thing to learn about drives is they are more likely to fail early on in their life (1st yr) or much later on (3yrs+) and vary rarely in the middle (i.e. 1-3 years). In this case, sounds like it could be an early failure, so best to get it backed up whilst you can.

Another option is to install something like Speedfan and run the drive check on it. This will take you to a webpage (so need to have internet access) which analyses the drive's SMART data and should be able to tell you if it notices any major problems.
