Hard drive dying

quick question justput an old hard drive into my new build and its making really bad seeking noises so i know its going out... but could this be due to the sandybridge chipset issue? Just curious

No it would have no connection to the Sandybridge Chipset issue, however I would run the Manufacturers diagnostic software on it and RMA or just buy a new one if it's that bad.
