hard drive enclosures

hey all

I have a 160GB maxtor HDD sitting in my draw upstairs from my old pc. I broke the pc to bits and sold it for my scrambler.

Anywho i have lots of music, pictures etc on the old hard drive. Can i buy a enclosure and plug the hard drive into my vista laptop? The old hard drive is installed with xp pro so will it work?

Not looking to run opertating systems or anything complicated just want to retreive all my old files.

any help is appreciated, sorry if im abit vague been out the pc loop for a few years!

Yup, a simple USB2 caddy which takes the appropriate interface of HDD will work fine.

Yup, the contents of the drive don't matter

So much stuff on there i have seen or heard in ages.

any particular enclosure you can reccommend? Budget about £30.

Seems pretty decent, a few folk on here have them, takes IDE or SATA drives and gives USB or eSATA connectivity (eSATA only works with SATA HDDs though).
