Hard drive failure-no power.

Power supply blew on my friends PC which also destroyed the motherboard. I tried connecting the hard drive to my PC using a ATA/SATA -> USB convertor but the spindles are not rotating at all even with just the molex power cable connected. It looks like the power socket on the HDD has been damaged aswell but there is no visible signs of damage. I assume I will have no chance of getting the data off unless I send the disk away but just posting incase someone had a genius idea?

You should contact the supplier off the HDD and get RMA if you're still in warranty.

He doesn't wan't to loose the data if possible as his last backup was almost a year ago but I don't think he has a choice unless he spends serious money.
