Recently my brother's 1TB WD drive died while building his new rig.
< 9 months old RMA'ed & replaced.
After running an AV scan last night I noticed the HD light constantly on.
My 3 1/2 year old WD 500GB shows up intermitantly in BIOS but not in Win7 - in fact most of time Windows won't boot with drive connected:(

Q. Is it unusual for a drive to die without warning? [never had this happen before]. Did I kill it by blowing air through it while the PC was on:o

Been using HD Tune & Crystal Disk info & both had been showing drive as healthy.
HD show my 1TB WD Green as "failed" due to C8 write error failure [1 year old] but passes WD Datalifeguard tools [DLG] quick & extenede tests.
Crystal Disk Info show my 3 month old WD 1TB Black as "Caution" due to C5,6 & 7 errors. Drive won't run DLG quick test but passes extended test:confused:

Should I be wary about the condition of 1 or both of these 1TB drives?
Up to now have been v happy with WD. Is it bad luck or time to change brands?
