So I've narrowed down a problem I've been having with my PC. It started when I was playing a game on Steam, which is installed on a 1TB drive separate to Windows 7. My entire PC began to freeze, I alt-tabbed to the desktop and it seemed like my CPU speed was jumping around from 2.4GHz down to any low number.
I ran a chkdsk and it fixed some errors but now every time I try to do something intense on the drive (Play a game, defrag it), the same thing happens. But if I reboot the problem goes away.
I can access my files OK and watch the films I have on it.
Makes me think it's an IRQ conflict? I have all 6 of my SATA ports connected.
Or is it just failing?
