I just went to power up my Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB (ST2000DL003) drive.
There is no sign of life from the drive.
I have changed the power connection & the drive is dead.
Any ideas?
Also, are these drives known to have an issue?

Any help would be appreciated as I need the data from this drive

Thanks

Have you tried the diagnostic utility.? Should be available on seagate website.

Also, another little quick test ...is the drive being picked up in the Bios.?

if the drive is borked, buy an identical drive and try swapping the PCB's... there is a chance its just the PCB thats broken.. (though its more likely to be the other bit)

Thank you for your help but the drive is not spinning at all and is not being seen in the BIOS.

Thank you for your reply.
I thought of this as I have another identical drive I purchased at the same time as the borked unit.
The only problem is, will they cancel any RMA if they see the screws have been tampered with?

Went for bust and changed over the PCB's
The drive now runs up but heads ares stuck in one position as you can't hear them travelling

this is a good option, but in regards to the rma yeah they may just not swap it if they see signs of abuse

Thank you all for your input but I have had to through the towel in.
I have raised an RMA & will ship the drive off tomorrow.
Just hope the second drive does not become faulty

Always buy two hard drives when you need 1. For the back ups.

Never trust a hard drive / cd / usb memory stick / data card.
