Hard drive filled up overnight ?!!!!!!?

Hi , I just checked my hard drive space and have lost 30 gigs overnight ! I haven't downloaded anything near that size so whats happened ?

Could it be a virus , how do I get my free space back ?

When you say lost do you mean the disk is reading 30gb less capacity or do you mean 30gb has been filled up since last night ?

Either or I guess. Last night my freespace read around 40 gigs , now its reading less than 5 gigs and I havent downloaded anything in that time.

Hmmm , I've just done a search for all files over 5 gigs and found something suspicious. It's a file named "Photoshop Temp6528403168" and it is 33 gigabytes in size ! What do you reckon it is and how did it get there ? Is it safe to delete and could it come back again if I do ?

Thanks a lot man. That makes a lot of sense and has put my mind at rest. I did have photoshop crash on me last night while working with a large file.

I'm gonna delete the contents of my temp folders and perform add/malware and virus boot time scans just to be on the safe side.
