Hard drive help/advice

Hi, Some pretty simple questions i need help with.

I want to buy this hard drive: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...7K500 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (0A35415)

Is it compatible with this motherboard?: Gigabyte GA-M57SLI-S4

The cable that attaches my hard drive to my motherboard also has another connection on it, i assume i just attach the new hard drive to this, right?

Is my hard drive choice a good one? other suggestions?

Sorry for the low tech questions but my friend who i would usually ask these things recently died, so i have no one else to ask.

Help and advice would be very much appreciated!

If the cable has a spare connector then it's IDE (wide ribbon cable), the drive you linked to is SATA so will need its own cable. You should have received at least a couple with the motherboard.
