like the printer the 5430 have been great i usually trawl ebay just to buy them for the toners much cheaper this way, it has been sent the above by mistake and despite the numbers on the toners being different it they swop work ok.

obvisouly i should have made it clearer (i did read it on there site) what i was asking was for someone with experience on this, ie i dont want to buy there hard drive at that price when you look its only a pata 30 or 40gb.

i was wondering if any drive would go in and i guess fat32 file system i have a few older pata drivse sitting around and they are worth not a lot hence my simple interest.

its worth about £300 nice experiment to go wrong, hard drive fraps £20 printer £300 plus, if you have knowledge and wish to help appreciate it. .

if not why bother stating obvious,

 Well sooooo sorry to give an opinion
fix your OWN problems in future !
Well i have better things to do than post to an ungratefull ***** like you:rolleyes:

not ungratefull at all ,, if the advise was worthy.

its a case of "no problem" i have a hard drive and it sits here, do i dont i is all i was asking from a person with knowledge,
all you could do was ad smileys and offer no obvious advice except to possibly attempt to do harm if its wrong.

simple....

take care & thank you for moving on.

its may blow the circuit board ,, they use 2.5 pata laptop drives they dont have power adapter like putting it in a pc. so it the board like a motherbard carries the current to run it.

hence my thoughts, and again looking for advice from someone who may have done this or trained in it ie laser printer repairs..

i will ring minolta today so job done, just thought maybe someone here had previous on above.

thanks.
