Hard drive install issue - help please

Hi folks,
Have just bought a "Western Digital RE2 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000YS)"
Added to a system which already contains a "Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD103SJ) "

Put both wires into the back for SATA, not plugged in an old style power lead.

Computer picks up the new drive on start up and says ready to go, but does not appear in "My Computer" as a Hard Drive, although I can see it via device manager and in BIOS.

Any ideas why I cannot see it to save stuff to?

CTRL panel
Disk management
Import or activate disk as required

I am Windows 7, to coin a phrase.

Gone into Control Panel\System and Security\Administrative Tools\Computer Management\Storage\Disk Management and again it can see the drive there, but cannot see an Import or Activate disk option.

Don't think I am being thick???

Ah ok got it, clicked on the new drive in the toolbar, selected New Simple Disk and went from there.
