Hi,

In some article (can't remember where now) I read that it's a bad idea to install hard drives near the PSU since the PSU is like a magnet and will eat my data! Apart from that installing my HDs there seem quite favourable as far as cooling is concerned. So is shoving my HDs next to the PSU a problem or risky? Thanks.

Could be risky. I mean a PSU is like a mini-transformer with coils and the like which does involve magnetic lines of flux (been a few years since A level physics, forgive me).

I shouldn't think, however that this would cause too many problems with HDU's as they are what, 10-15cm apart in something like a Shuttle with no adverse effects. Even watercoolers with their magnetic pumps aren't really affected so I shouldn't imagine it was too problematic.

Any PSU worth its metal should be well EM-shielded, as should Hard-drives. Unless you're going to have the HDD sitting on top of the PSU that's running at full load, I doubt you'll have any problems.

I've got a seasonic 600W PSU - you think that's shielded enough? My case does have a case just next to the PSU - the PSU fan would blow onto the side of the HD and one of the exhaust fans are there too. What do you think - given this?

Most definitely :).
