Hi
I've a 300gb Maxtor sata II hard drive and was preparing it for a new build I'm hoping set up in the next week or so (if everything's delivered)
Having tried a full format, right at the end (always the way!) I'm presented a message to the effect that 'Windows was unable to format the drive'.
Before formatting, I copied files I wish to retain, but I got a message during the copy process affecting one particular file - something along the lines of CRC error cycle redundancy. I guess this might be bad sector(s) on the drive?
Will a low level format cure this; what suggestions are there to fixing this?
Thanks
