hi all

I've just set up a new windows install.

new computer: 250gig deskstar, 36gig raptor for the OS

old computer: 160gig deskstar, 160gig deskstar for the OS

after the new computer was installed and all windows updated, everything installed etc. I started to shift the 300 gig of data from the old computer to the new. I plugged one of the 160's in and windows blackscreened on bootup... did this for both drives.

So i tried it another way, i plugged a 160 in while the computer was allready booted up, clicked 'activate' in disk management and hey presto i transfered 100gig from the OS deskstar to my new comp.

long story i know but hopefully it will save questions.

now, i want the other 160 deskstar to run in my new machine for good... it's full to the brim with data. It black screens my computer on bootup, before windows comes up. even after setting it as active in disk management before a restart- no joy.

any ideas why? I'm gonna have a poke in bios in a second having never really done so on a computer before, perhaps it's set as raid 1 or something... it's an asrock board btw, 3 sata ports... the 250 is in the sata II and the raptor is in one of the sata I's.

1800xt, tagen 580psu, asrock dual, 3800x2.

Thanks for any help
