I have just bought a Maxtor 250GB hard drive. I have fitted it into my computer and installed windows XP, the only trouble is, it says that it is only 127GB when the hard drive is meant to be 250 GB. I am baffled. What has happened to the other 150GB?

You need SP1 or SP2 to get 48 bit LBA support for drives of that size and larger than 137gb. Also if you want the full drive support at install then you need install media with SP1 or 2 slipstreamed in already. You can use nlite to do this.
So how would I go about doing this?

I have formatted the remaining space, however, I do not want 2 partitions. I want one 250GB partition. How would I achieve this? I have now got nlite but when i try to copy the cd files over it says total space is 127GB, how do I get it to recognise both partitions?
