Hey guys,

Keep getting notifications from windows saying i need to back up as my primary data drive is failing. I ran crystal disk and it is confirmed as bad. Did some reading and a format may of helped so I backed up the drive and formatted it.

It was still showing as bad but today it is showing as good again. The transfer was very slow compared to usual. The error it had before was the "spin up time". Is it time it was replaced (it is a 4 year old Samsung F3 1TB).

Also, not bought a hard drive in years, who are the best suppliers these days, I know they've all changed around now. Probably going to get a 2TB drive.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I've got two 500gb WD drives still going strong but I use them as back up drives that aren't connected.

Probs get another WD.

However, do I need to? Crystal disk thinks the drive is ok now? Could that be a temporary thing with a spin up error?
