hard drive prices

Why are spinner hard drives so expensive, I'm looking at 8tb Nas drive and they're holding prices high, even a small 2tb we black drive is expensive.

I just shuck them out of USB enclosures, usually half the price.

You can tape over the pin if it doesn't work, it's not hard.

Also they're not red anymore,. they're whites

WD ones are slowed down enterprise drives. (He10/He14).

Have shucked four of them for my NAS.

Another one to look out for is the WD My cloud EX2 drives - the drives are removable without shucking and are just normal Reds (often with shorter 2 year warranties). The drop in price every so often if you keep an eye out on the deals website.

been getting them out of usb external drives for years, all work fine
