Hard-drive Problem

I can only see two drivers, 32bit and 64bit. You won't need the RAID drivers if your installing a single drive.

I've not done this before, but I'm wondering whether it got to be a floppy. Anyone know for certain?

All your hardware is fine, its virtualy the exact same bits I'm using and many other people etc. Its all fine togeather.

From top to botton in the bios

SATA AHCI MODE - disabled
SATA Port0-3 Native mode - disabled
Onboard SATA IDE device - enabled
Onboard SATA IDE control mode - Ide

You should just be able to set it up like this in the bios with the drive plugged into the intel sata ports and vista should pick it up straight away no problem without any need for messing about with sata drivers.
This whole thing is strange

:( Those were my settings the first time I booted up. And are my settings atm.

edit: hmm so if its not BIOS related or driver related I assume I have mixed something up in my hardware maybe? I have the SATA connecter connectied to the yellow (Intel?) SATA Port. The top one nearest the processor.

Is it just a normal ide dvd your using in the pc or a newer sata dvd drive?
I'm out of ideas almost but try using a different sata cable and a different sata power connector for it incase thiers a loose connection somewhere.

are you extracting the drivers to a folder before burning to disc? -the setup can't extract exe's or zip files for you, you've got to manually extract them using winzip/7zip/winrar first, then burn that folder to disc or usb or floppy (usb or cdrw is best!)

There's no reason at all for him with his setup which would mean he has to use the sata/raid drivers bledd.
If its not working with it setup to run in ide mode theres defitently a problem lurking elsewhere.
I'm betting/hoping it was a loose connection somewhere.

I'm lost over this
Have you ran that seagate tool yet on the drive or can you get access to another sata hard drive from somewhere to test in its place?
I know you,ve checked loads already but I,ve taken a quick pic of my bios screen so you can compare it with yours.

i see now you two have the same motherboard /exit thread for me :)

hope you get it sorted

Yep just boot off it and run the tests.
I don't reckon the drive is faulty but theres not a lot left I can think of to try at the second.
Short test takes about 5-10 mins, long one can take a hour or so.

It wont boot from my disc. When it says Insert CD-ROM then I put it in. Did nothing so I restarted with the disc in and it is just does nothing after "Insert CD ROM" apart from making a clicking noise(coming from the hard-drive) it stops when I press a button on the keyboard but still nothing happens.

Doesn't work on this one either for some reason. lol :(

Anway I'm totally stumped but didn't realise the time. Really late and Ive got to go to bed. Work tomorrow. Thanks for all your help. Hopefully I'll be able to figure this thing out tomorrow.

you don't burn the iso onto a cd, you burn it as an image

use imgburn in write mode, or nero's burn image option
